Evaluation for 1.3b
Materials include a lesson overview listing the teacher and student materials necessary to effectively deliver the lesson, and the suggested timing for each lesson component.
The unit 14 “Daily Planner” identifies the educator and student materials needed for instruction in geometry. For example, lesson 14.1 “Parallel and Perpendicular Lines,” identifies student workbook resources, independent practice resources, the “Lines in the Neighborhood” activity, and rulers. Lesson 14.2 “Sides and Angles in Polygons,” identifies student materials, colored pencils, paper clips, and pencils. These examples show that the materials identify student-facing resources, physical supplies, and tools needed for instruction.
The unit 8 “Daily Planner” provides additional examples of lesson materials. In the equivalent fractions and comparing unit, lesson 8.1 “Fractions Greater Than One,” identifies colored pencils and note cards or equal-sized pieces of paper. Lesson 8.2 “Use Models to Find Equivalent Fractions,” identifies blank sheets of paper. These materials support visual modeling, student practice, and hands-on representation of fraction concepts.

Discover Takeoff by IXL: Comprehensive Lesson Plans guide provides suggested timing for the daily lesson structure. Each lesson includes a five-minute warm-up, 15–20 minutes of instruction, 10–15 minutes of guided practice, and 15–20 minutes of independent practice. This pacing guidance helps educators understand the intended lesson length and how the lesson divides time across prior knowledge activation, instruction, supported practice, and independent application.
