Evaluation for 6.2b
Materials include prompts and guidance to support teachers in providing explanatory feedback based on student responses and anticipated misconceptions.
The materials do not include educator-facing prompts and instructional guidance for delivering explanatory feedback when addressing student misconceptions or analyzing classroom responses. While the
TEKS-tivity Teacher Edition features a “Misconceptions” box inside its lesson plans, it stops at merely defining the mathematical error for the educator. For example, in a lesson analyzing exponential functions, the guide identifies that students often mistake the base of the function for a linear growth rate. While the educator guidance flags this error and explains the underlying algebra, it provides no verbal scripts, targeted questions, or instructional pathways explaining how the educator should address a student who shows this specific misunderstanding.
The materials do not include a framework to assist educators in assessing and giving feedback on student-generated work. The materials include multi-representational assignments that ask students to write, graph, and model equations. However, the
Practice Book Teacher Edition offers only standard answer keys. The program fails to provide educators with rubrics, prompting guides, or response criteria to help them evaluate student explanations or deliver constructive, concept-based feedback. The curriculum does not bridge the gap between identifying student mistakes and giving educators the language to correct them.
