Evaluation for 5.5d
Materials include an overview of the TEKS process standards incorporated into each lesson.
In the
5th Math Implementation Guide, each lesson includes an “Incorporating and Connection Through the Learning Pathway” section that specifies how and where the lesson incorporates TEKS process standards.
Unit 1, lesson 1 states, “The learning pathway begins in the TEKS Lesson as students represent the value of digits in decimals through the thousandths and translate between standard and expanded notation. Through place-value charts, decimal grids, standard notation, expanded notation, money, measurements, and tables, students build a shared conceptual model, communicate ideas in multiple forms, and analyze the relationships that define the content (5.1D, 5.1C, 5.1E, 5.1F, 5.1G). Guided Practice maintains the same conceptual anchors while increasing student responsibility. Students analyze parallel examples, select relevant information or techniques, and use feedback to connect procedures to meaning (5.18, 5.1C, 5.1D, 5.1E, 5.1F). Partner Practice extends the pathway through mathematical discourse as students compare methods, explain evidence, and refine reasoning with precise vocabulary (5.1A, 5.1C, 5.1D, 5.1E, 5.1F, 5.1G). Independent Practice completes the pathway by requiring students to transfer the same ideas to varied formats and applications, determine a solution without immediate support, and evaluate or justify the result (5.1A, 5.1C, 5.18, 5.1D, 5.1E, 5.1F, 51G).” This excerpt from unit 1 exemplifies how the lesson specifies how and where it incorporates TEKS process standards.
