Top of the page- it is being flagged because it shows that Jake is functioning productively in a free enterprise society by earning cash and having the freedom to buy tools. "Jake works hard to earn cash and buys tools for his shop."
On this document, found on the first page near the top of the document in all 3 sections of I Do:, We Do:, You Do: Sentence under "I DO:" is "Jake works hard to earn cash and buy tools for his shop." It really should say "money" and not "cash", but a good example, when combined with the "WE DO:" where teacher is instructed to SAY: "This sentence is about Jake earning income to be able to buy something that will help him with his business", and the "YOU DO": where the teacher is instructed to ask students about a time they were asked to do a job. Time should be allowed for discussions.
On the 2nd page of the document: Example 2: Vowel Team and Dipthongs: I DO, WE DO, YOU DO: in the I DO section, the sentence is "She chose to save coins in a blue pouch for a new bike". The WE DO instructs the teacher to explain that "this sentence is about saving money for something you want. Saving for something you want takes discipline and consistency". I think 2nd graders may not be familiar with the word "consistency", but teacher could explain. The I DO section instructs the teacher to ask " Have you ever saved your money to buy something you wanted?" This is a fair example of being a productive member of society and self governance.
