Text suggests teachers use "images of the smaller words" - I suggest confirming or defining what you mean by images. Specific pictures of the actual word, or the text of the word?
In addition, parts of compound words in Texas TEKS are called BASE words, not SMALLER words.
P.20 on Teacher's Guide, Lesson 2 "Compound Words": In the "Differentiate" box, under "Alternative" and "EL Support",

Again, the macrons appear above the vowels in some segments, and in others they do not. Consistency throughout with the macrons would benefit the students throughout.
