Materials provide opportunities for students to investigate career clusters and programs of study as applicable to the level of the course and in alignment with the course TEKS.
The materials provide opportunities for students to investigate career clusters and programs of study, which are aligned with the TEKS. For example, in chapter 1, students complete an Everyday AI Tool Audit activity to investigate AI tools used in business and entrepreneurship. Students analyze how professionals use these technologies in workplace settings. The accompanying educator guidance encourages discussion of adjacent careers and entrepreneurial opportunities associated with emerging technologies. Students explore the technological competencies, problem-solving skills, and innovation-focused mindsets needed for careers that incorporate digital tools. In chapter 5, a Develop a Value Proposition activity requires students to analyze customer needs, evaluate market opportunities, and communicate how a product addresses a target market. The educator guidance connects these skills to careers in entrepreneurship, marketing, product development, and business strategy, in which professionals use market analysis, creativity, and critical thinking.
The materials provide students opportunities to investigate entrepreneurship-related career pathways through local business and workforce resources. For example, in chapter 8, the
Student Edition explains that local organizations support entrepreneurs through Chambers of Commerce, economic development programs, financial institutions, business associations, start-up competitions, and pitch events. The materials identify resources entrepreneurs use to enter or grow in the field, including grants, loans, networking opportunities, and training programs. Students apply this information in a Local Resource Investigation activity by researching three organizations in their local areas that provide resources to entrepreneurs. Students identify each organization’s name, type, eligibility requirements, and application processes. Through this activity, students examine real organizations that connect entrepreneurs to funding, training, mentoring, and business development opportunities to prepare for business ownership.
