Kindergarten Curriculum Map contains knowledge 1, “Nursery Rhymes and Fables,” where students engage with traditional nursery rhymes and Aesop’s fables, and knowledge 3, “Stories: Fairy Tales and Folktales,” where students encounter classic fairy tales and folktales from multiple cultures. These texts expose students to varied genres, perspectives, and literary traditions across the kindergarten year.
Students also engage with informational texts across content areas that build knowledge in science, history, geography, civics, and the arts. The
Kindergarten Curriculum Map covers domains such as “The Five Senses,” “Plants,” “Seasons and Weather,” “Native Americans,” “Colonial Towns and Townspeople,” and “Taking Care of the Earth.” Students build scientific knowledge through texts about the senses, plant life, and weather while also developing historical and civic understanding through texts about Native American communities, colonial towns, and environmental responsibility. These texts provide students with diverse literary and informational experiences across multiple content areas.
