Evaluation for 6.1c
Materials emphasize the use of academic, professional, and technical vocabulary during experiential learning opportunities.
In the Digital Companion, chapter 3 features interactive e-flash cards, matching activities, and vocabulary games that emphasize academic, professional, and technical vocabulary during experiential learning opportunities. For example, chapter 3, section 3.2, “Words to Know” includes industry-specific terms, such as
agribusiness,
agricultural communications,
agricultural processing, and
agricultural support services. The tools reinforce these key terms before students apply the career-related language to practical activities and SAE projects. This structure ensures that students preview and master essential terminology before completing hands-on tasks.
In chapter 2, lesson 2.3, “Conducting Meetings in Agricultural Organizations,” the materials emphasize academic, professional, and technical vocabulary during experiential learning activities. For example, the lesson plan organizes vocabulary by type within the “Key Terms” section, highlighting academic terms, such as
chair,
minutes, and
quorum; professional terms, including
parliamentary procedure and
precedence; and technical terms, such as
amendable motion,
main motion, and
subsidiary motion. During a hands-on parliamentary procedure simulation, students use “Robert’s Rules of Order” to answer procedural questions, make and vote on motions, and rotate through the role of chairperson. This activity requires students to apply professional vocabulary, including
gavel,
second, and
order of business, within an authentic meeting setting to meet the course TEKS expectations.
