Evaluation for 6.1c
Materials emphasize the use of academic, professional, and technical vocabulary during experiential learning opportunities.
The “Career Exploration & Pathways” subsection of the Course Implementation Guide explains that the course supports student development of technical, employability, and industry skills. Lessons incorporate authentic scenarios and industry-based examples that simulate workplace tasks through case studies, technical skill application, industry-relevant decision-making, and problem-solving. For example, to ensure workforce readiness, students should demonstrate a mastery of skills including feed ration formulation, medication dosage calculations, clinical examination procedures and vital sign assessment, ethical practice and legal or regulatory compliance awareness, and professional communication with clients and team members.
The course consistently provides materials that emphasize the use of academic, technical, and professional vocabulary during experiential learning opportunities. For example, in the “Feed the Need” project in the “Fundamentals of Animal Nutrition” lesson, students participate in an authentic feed analysis project in which they evaluate feed quality, compare commercial feed products, analyze nutritional needs across different life stages, and communicate their findings using academic, professional, and industry-specific animal science terminology.
The “Assessment Framework” section of the Course Implementation Guide outlines a variety of assessment types (including Skill Development activities and projects) that reinforce the use of academic, professional, and technical vocabulary during experiential learning. Students apply industry-specific terminology while completing hands-on activities, interpreting technical information, participating in discussions, and demonstrating their understanding of animal science concepts. Assessments require students to communicate using appropriate technical language through written responses, presentations, project documentation, and collaborative activities. By consistently integrating discipline-specific vocabulary into authentic learning experiences, the materials strengthen students’ content knowledge, improve their communication skills, and prepare them to use professional language confidently in postsecondary education and future careers.
