Evaluation for 6.1c
Materials emphasize the use of academic, professional, and technical vocabulary during experiential learning opportunities.
The “Assessment Framework” section in the Educator Resource Guide explains that students must demonstrate mastery through skill development activities and projects. Lesson plans include performance-based assessments, feedback, and reflections that provide opportunities for students to apply academic, professional, and technical vocabulary while completing laboratory investigations, field activities, and other hands-on agricultural experiences.
The “Experiential Learning & Real-World Application” section in the Course Implementation Guide explicitly outlines the course expectation that students should use academic, professional, and technical vocabulary throughout authentic learning experiences. This section describes how students must demonstrate compliance with laboratory and field safety procedures, using appropriate safety terminology; develop and maintain accurate research documentation related to plant growth, soil analysis, and environmental conditions; design and conduct experiments focused on plant systems, soil properties, water management, and crop production; and collect, analyze, and report data to evaluate plant health, soil quality, and agricultural outcomes. Each of these experiential opportunities requires students to apply discipline-specific vocabulary in authentic contexts, reinforcing technical communication skills that are aligned to the course TEKS and plant and soil science career expectations.
