Evaluation for 4.3a
Materials provide opportunities for students to explore a variety of discipline-specific art forms (e.g., variety of media, variety of performance genres and styles).
Studio Investigations and Studio Experience lessons in the student book introduce and engage students in diverse media and processes, including painting, drawing, photography, clay, collage, basketry, installation, fiber art, printmaking, assemblage, mixed media, design, and digital art. These lessons allow students to work with multiple artistic forms and techniques at developmentally appropriate levels, supporting exploration across genres and styles. The
Teacher Edition reinforces this variety by guiding educators in facilitating hands-on experiences that expose students to the breadth of artistic practices aligned with the course TEKS.
In the
Teacher Edition, lesson 4.2 provides opportunities for students to explore a range of drawing media and approaches through the Choice Center. In “Introducing Drawing and Line,” students work with objects from nature and are challenged to draw them from observation while considering surface color, size, shape, and composition. In the following lesson, “Drawing Nature Close Up,” the Choice Center expands this exploration by offering a wide selection of materials, including pencils of different grades, colored pencils, watercolor pencils, markers in multiple sizes, brush markers, drawing pens, paint pens, paint and brushes of different sizes, oil and soft pastels, and crayons, along with varied drawing papers and surfaces. These materials allow students to experiment with diverse tools and techniques as they develop their drawing skills.
