Evaluation for 2.1d
Diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments are aligned to the TEKS and objectives of the course, unit, or lesson.
The materials include diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments aligned with the TEKS and objectives of the course, unit, or lesson in
FONÉTICA Stage 3. The “Evaluación de la tercera etapa” may be used as a diagnostic assessment to determine what students know or whether they need additional support and also as a summative assessment to evaluate mastery after instruction. The assessment focuses on complex syllables, diphthongs, hiatuses, morphology, word reading, high-utility words, and sentence writing. For example, the “Hoja de registro de la tarea de evaluación 6—Morfología” asks students to use the base word
baile to generate words from the same lexical family, including
baila,
bailemos,
bailarina,
bailamos,
bailé, and
bailaba. The materials also provide opportunities for formative assessment within daily instruction. For example, in módulo 6, unidad 1, students work toward objectives that include identifying and connecting
gr with the /gr/ sound; combining vowels with
gr to form syllables; writing a sentence using
gr; and recognizing augmentatives ending in
-ote,
-ota, and their plural forms. Under “Palabras de alta utilidad—Lo veo y lo digo,” students learn the word
camión by listening to and repeating it, identifying its sounds, using sound boxes to connect sounds with letters, spelling it aloud, and writing it several times. These tasks allow the educator to monitor students’ progress toward the lesson objectives and the aligned TEKS.

FONÉTICA Stage 3. The “Evaluación de la tercera etapa” may be used as a diagnostic assessment to determine what students know as well as to identify areas requiring additional support or as a summative assessment after instruction. The assessment addresses complex syllables, diphthongs, hiatuses, morphology, word reading, high-utility words, and sentence writing. For example, “Repaso del módulo 6” assesses students’ ability to blend and segment syllables, manipulate syllables, substitute sounds, and remove syllables from words. Students blend syllables to form words like
jaula,
presente,
travesura, and
hay; segment words such as
granizo,
Europa,
ladrón, and
boina; manipulate syllables to create new words; change sounds in words including
rey,
boca, and
piña; and remove syllables from
autobús,
relavar, and
preescolar. The materials also provide opportunities for formative assessment within daily instruction. For example, in módulo 6, unidad 3, students work toward objectives that include identifying and connecting
au with the /au/ sound, writing a sentence containing the diphthong
au, and recognizing how prefixes change word meanings. Under “Palabras de alta utilidad—Lo veo y lo digo,” students learn the word
trae by listening to and repeating it, identifying its sounds, using sound boxes to connect sounds with letters, spelling it aloud, and writing it several times. Educators are directed to “Revise lo escrito,” allowing them to monitor students’ progress toward the lesson objectives and the aligned TEKS.
