The grade 2 materials include intentional, cumulative phonics review embedded throughout the curriculum. The Phonemic Awareness and Phonics Toolkit Implementation Guide features a 210-Day Pacing Guide with designated review days, including Days 15, 23, 36, 79, 85, 90, 95, 110, 121, 129, 137, 149, 155, 161, 167, 171, 177, 183, 189, 193–194, and 208–209. The "Review Day Directions" instruct teachers to use Quick Check Assessment data to identify areas for review and apply targeted strategies from the differentiation boxes within the lessons. The Phonemic Awareness and Phonics Toolkit Teacher Guide also supports cumulative review during daily instruction. For example, in the "Diphthongs oi and oy" lesson, the "You Do" section includes isolated decoding of words that combine current skills with previously taught blends, such as ploy, Troy, soil, broil, and joint. This structure reinforces ongoing skill application and retention.
