Evaluation for 5.2c
Materials provide opportunities for students to evaluate mathematical representations, models, strategies, and solutions for efficiency, flexibility, and accuracy throughout learning pathways.
The materials provide opportunities for students to evaluate mathematical representations, models, strategies, and solutions for efficiency, flexibility, and accuracy throughout learning pathways through the "IXL for Math Discourse" "Group Jam Guide." The guide instructs educators on using the "Group Jam" feature, which includes having students work on the same math problem together. Then, the educator has various options for students to participate in math discourse. Students evaluate mathematical representations, models, strategies, and solutions for efficiency in the "Partner Share" and "Class Discussion" strategy sections. In these sections, educators are prompted to ask students questions such as, "Whose approach was most efficient? Why?" Students evaluate mathematical representations, models, strategies, and solutions for flexibility in the "Class Discussion" strategy section. In this section, educators are prompted to ask students questions such as, "Whose approach is the most flexible? Why?" Students also evaluate mathematical representations, models, strategies, and solutions for accuracy in the "Class Discussion" strategy section. In this section, educators are prompted to ask students questions such as, "Whose approach is the most likely to be accurate? Why?"
