Evaluation for 3.2e
Materials include prompts and guidance to support educators in providing timely feedback during lesson delivery.
The Grade 6 “Adaptive Pathway” includes the AI Math Coach, which can be enabled on practice assignments. The AI Math Coach acts as the educator, providing timely feedback during a lesson. For example, in the Expressions, Equations, and Relationships domain, in the lesson “Equation Writing from Tables, Part 1,” when a student answers a problem correctly, the AI Math Coach states, “That’s right! Well done.” When they answer incorrectly, the AI Math Coach states, “Your
y-intercept of 5 is correct. The issue is the equation: writing just ‘1’ is incomplete. A linear equation needs a slope multiplied by
x and then the intercept added.” If a student does not know where to begin, they can ask the AI Math Coach a question by selecting one of the prompts such as “Where do I start?” or typing their own. The AI Math Coach breaks down the steps of the problem, and the student can respond.
In the Teacher Dashboard, the Standards Cards provide guidance for educator feedback by showing real-time data on how the entire class is performing on a specific skill in relation to the amount of time spent on the skill. When the instructor selects an individual standard, the graph better individualizes each student’s proficiency on the chart and in a list by color-coding and sorting the students based on the demonstrated proficiency levels “Ready,” “Needs Practice,” and “Needs Help.”
The “How to: Understand Edia Data” resource explains how to use the Standards Cards to interpret student performance and provide support. It details how the proficiency colors green, yellow, and red correspond to the proficiency levels “Ready,” “Needs Practice,” and “Needs Help.” It explains that the Standards Cards only “populate once there is a minimum amount of evidence, specifically, a student needs to answer at least 3 questions across 3 different skills before they appear on a Standards card for that view.” It explains how to use the cards to answer the two questions “Which students are on track vs. need support for a given standard?” and “Where should I reteach vs. intervene?”
